THE HISTORICAL COLLECTION

THE HISTORICAL COLLECTION

This collection includes written records and objects from the 16th century to the present day, relating to the lives of Heves County and Eger inhabitants. We have divided the items into several sections.

FINE ARTS AND CRAFTS COLLECTION

FINE ARTS AND CRAFTS COLLECTION

The fine arts exhibition originated from the Lyceum and contained quality paintings and drawings of famed European artists.

Ethnography collection

Ethnography collection

The nucleus of the ethnographical collection includes 1,368 items bequeathed by the art collector and dealer Mrs György Szegedy Maszák, neé Valéria Holló. The most significant groups of objects are traditional costumes, folkweave items, pieces of folk embroidery from the regions of Kalotaszeg, Upper Hungary, Mezőkövesd and Sárköz, pottery mostly from Northern Hungary and Transylvania, as well as shepherd artefacts from Transdanubia.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTION

ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTION

One of the tasks of the István Dobó Castle Museum – in terms of the entire region of Heves County – is the collection, preservation, cataloguing and utilisation of archaeological and numismatic relics.

Literary History collection

Literary History collection

Since its foundation, the museum has gone to great lengths to preserve the author's work, cherish his legacy and disseminate his heritage in formal education and in a museum setting.

RESTORATION WORKSHOP

RESTORATION WORKSHOP

The Restoration Workshop lies hidden in the outskirts of the town. This 3,728 m2 warehouse is divided into 55 store-rooms and includes the workshops and photo studios. Our restorers work meticulously behind the scenes, hidden from the visitors, but this is one of the essential activities of our museum.

OUR LIBRARY

OUR LIBRARY

The history of the library and our museum are intimately related. This extensive book collection has grown in size since the 1950s thanks to public donations and since the 1960s due to exchanges and purchases.
