Géza Gárdonyi Memorial House

The Géza Gárdonyi Memorial House was placed in the former residence of the author, where the writer lived between 1897 and 1922.

This is where he wrote several of his novels, the most outstanding of them is the historical novel, the "Eclipse of the Crescent Moon" written in 1901, which is about the anti-Ottoman wars in the 16th century. In the Memorial House practically every piece of furniture was left in its original place. The carved desks and bookshelves, Gárdonyi’s study and bedroom, his nearly ten thousand piece book collection as well as his notes written in cipher help us to imagine the author’s everyday life.
