Battle of Iceland in 1238.
Virtual Reality experience in Dobó István Castle Museum.
Thanks to the cooperation between the István Dobó Castle Museum and the Battle of Iceland Museum, visitors can enjoy an interactive VR experience, through which they can travel back in time to the Battle of Iceland in 1238. The visuals are designed with authenticity in mind, with period costumes, weapons and environments.
One of the most important events in Icelandic history is the Battle of örlygsstaðir, a battle between local clans that led to the loss of independence. Visitors can step through a time gate and join the battle as a warrior, holding the legendary spear Grásíða, one of the tribal chieftains, Sturla.
The castle Museum plans to create a similar VR experience linked to the events of 1552, offering young people in particular another opportunity to experience the historical events.
The VR experience can be enjoyed every day from 10.00-18.00 on the lower level of the Gothic Bishop's Palace with a separate ticket.
1. The VR experience is only available to children under 10 years of age when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
2. VR experiences are not recommended for pregnant women and visitors with reduced mobility.
3. It is not recommended for persons suffering from fear of heights, epilepsy, panic disorder, claustrophobia, hypertension, musculoskeletal disorders or heart disease.
4. If you feel unwell while using the VR experience, leave the VR experience immediately.
5. You use the VR Experience at your own risk.
6. Near-sighted persons are recommended to wear glasses/contact lenses.
